We once lived in a world where open conversations about women - their rights, their experiences, and futures-were often dismissed or ridiculed. But times are changing. Women today are thriving, independent and uniting to create safe spaces for conversations that foster growth and understanding. However, one topic remains shrouded in stigma and controversy: menopause.

For women worldwide, menopause is a natural yet transformative stage of life. This biological process often comes with physical, mental, emotional and social challenges that impact daily life. While research on menopause is increasing for certain groups, there remains a glaring gap in understanding and support for women of colour. In the black community, menopause is often met with silence, stigma, and lack of compassion.
How You Can Help
We’re calling on women from across the African and Afro-Caribbean communities to share their experiences through our quick and anonymous survey. By participating, you’ll contribute to a vital, long-overdue conversation and help us build a future where women’s challenges are acknowledged and addressed. Together, we can paint an honest picture of menopause and lay the foundation for meaningful change. Click here to take the survey.
Changing the Narrative with Nzanobi Charity
At Nzanobi Charity, we’re committed to breaking this silence and creating a more inclusive platform. That’s why we’re proud to launch our groundbreaking Menopause Research Project. This initiative is designed to uncover the unique experiences of African and Afro-Caribbean women navigating menopause and provide a space where voices are heard.
Why This Research Matters
Experiences of African & Afro-Caribbean women are rarely highlighted or spoken of. This silence can contribute to increased mental health challenges and a reluctance to seek support due to feelings of isolation. Cultural differences, healthcare disparities, and systemic inequalities mean that many women in our community face menopause without adequate support or awareness.
Our research aims to:
Understand the physical, emotional, and social impact of menopause on African and Afro-Caribbean women.
Highlight the challenges unique to our community, from access to healthcare to cultural stigma.
Advocate for tailored resources, greater awareness, and comprehensive support systems.
At Nzanobi Charity, we’re driven to transform our community significantly - this research is just the beginning. Together, we can ensure that every woman experiencing menopause feels understood, acknowledged, and supported.

Thank you for being part of this journey. Let’s continue to empower our community and create a future where no one faces menopause alone.
Stay tuned for updates on the research findings and how they will shape the resources and support we develop.
Warm regards,
The Nzanobi Charity Team
